Online Security Changes
BCU will launch a new security technology called
2 factor authentication. The name is not important, what is important is that your accounts will be secured with the best technology available.
What is 2 factor authentication?
This new security technology watches for uncharacteristic or unusual activity involving your account online. If anything out of the ordinary is detected, the software will ask you to verify your identity.
How does it work?
In the rare case that the system detects any unusual or uncharacteristic activity, it will ask you to answer one of three security questions to make sure it is really you. Most of the time you won’t even notice that the security technology is even there, but it will be protecting you 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Remember, this technology is meant to catch the individuals that attempt to commit online fraud.
Do I need to sign up for the new security technology?
We are launching the new technology to all of our online banking users. Expect to be prompted at some point while using online banking to enter additional information. This will include choosing three security questions that only you know the answers to, as well as your email address. Once this has been completed, you have added an additional layer of protection to you account! Please see the FAQ’s section for additional information.
