What is Deposit Anywhere?

Deposit Anywhere allows you to conveniently make secure deposits anytime using either your desktop computer and scanner, or your Apple® and Android™ powered phones and tablets.

How can I sign up for Deposit Anywhere?

Deposit Anywhere is available through Online Banking and Mobile Banking for eligible members of the Credit Union. If you do not see the link for Deposit Anywhere when you login to Online Banking or Mobile Banking, then the option is not currently available to you for use. Deposit Anywhere is available for members that have:

  • Been a member of the Credit Union for a minimum of one month
  • Account(s) in good standing.

    How should I endorse the check?

    The back of each check must include:

        1.    The words "For deposit only via Deposit Anywhere”
        2.    The account number to which the check is being deposited
        3.    Today's date (mm/dd/yyyy)
        4.    The payee's signature

    PLEASE NOTE: If the back of the check is not properly endorsed, we reserve the right to reject the check for deposit.

    How quickly will the deposit be credited to my account?

    Checks submitted for deposit will be credited to your account as soon as the transaction is complete. Certain transactions may require review before the transaction can be approved. Reviewed transactions submitted after 4:00 pm Central Standard Time (CST) will be credited to your account on the next business day. Business days are Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. You will receive an email when the deposit has been credited to your account.

    What are the hardware and software specifications for Deposit Anywhere?

    In order to use the desktop version Deposit Anywhere, you must have the following:

    1. Microsoft® Windows® 2000, XP or Vista
    2. Internet Explorer®, version 6 or higher or Firefox®* 3 Web browser
    3. High-speed Internet connection
    4. TWAIN-compliant document scanner (To find out if your scanner is compliant, please refer to the documentation that was supplied with the scanner. For help with your scanner, log in to Online Banking and click on “Deposit Anywhere” in the right navigation bar. Then click on "Help with Scanners and Drivers" near the bottom of the screen.)

    Recommended:

  • Windows® XP or Vista with Internet Explorer® 7 or Firefox®* 3 Web browser OR
  • Mac* OS X 10.5 with Safari 3.1 or Firefox® 3 Web browser
  • *Requires Java runtime environment v1.5+

    What else will I need to do to send in my deposit?

    After you endorse the back of the check(s) according to the indications above, you will need to do the following:

      1.  Login to your Online Banking or Mobile Banking account.
      2.  Click on “Deposit Anywhere”.
      3.  Select the account you wish to deposit your check to.
      4.  For desktop users, select your scanner (you will only need to do this one time).
      5.  Enter the total deposit amount of your check(s).
      6.  Capture the front and back of your check(s).
      7.  Review and submit your deposit.

    Are there any types of checks that cannot be submitted using Deposit Anywhere?

    The following items cannot be submitted for deposit using Deposit Anywhere:

  • Savings Bonds
  • Foreign checks
  • Any item drawn on your Credit Union account
  • Any item that is "stale dated" or "post dated"
  • Any item that is incomplete (i.e. missing the date, missing the payee, etc.)
  • Any item that contains evidence of alteration to the information on the check
  • Any item that is stamped with a "non-negotiable" watermark
  • Any third party check (any item that is made payable to another party and then endorsed to me by such party)

    What is the maximum dollar limit I can deposit via Deposit Anywhere?

    The daily limit that members can deposit is set at $5,000. That amount can be all in a single check or the total of multiple checks. If you need to have your limit increased, please contact Member Relations at 800-388-7000.

    What should I do if I have a check for an amount that exceeds my limit?

    How many checks can I include in one deposit? Can multiple deposits be submitted the same day?

    Deposit Anywhere does not limit the number of checks that can be submitted in one deposit or the number of deposits that can be submitted in one day. However, daily deposit fund limits may vary for each user based on their eligibility with the Credit Union. For specific limit information, please contact Member Relations at 800-388-7000.

    How long can I view information about my submitted checks?

    Submitted check images deposited using Deposit Anywhere can be viewed through the desktop version located in Online Banking. Within the desktop version, select the “Deposit History” link in the top right corner. You will be able to view the previous 18 months of past deposits.

    How long should I hold on to my check(s) after I scan it using Deposit Anywhere?

    Once you have scanned your check(s) and your deposit has been credited to your account, you should securely store the original check(s) for 90 days before destroying it.

    There are a few options available for you to get answers to questions you may have:

  • If you are within the Deposit Anywhere program through Online Banking, you can select "Help" or "?" as you begin the transaction and you will see information specific to the page you are on.

    What devices are supported for Deposit Anywhere?

    Deposit Anywhere as a part of our Mobile Banking smartphone app supports iPhone® 3 (or greater), iPad, and Android operating systems up to 2.3 (Gingerbread). Android phone users with an operating system that is 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) or higher need to have the Deposit Anywhere app installed on their phone and can access the service through http://m.bcu.org
