BCU Partners with Alkami Technology to Develop Re-Imagined Digital Banking Experience

January 19, 2016

BCU (Baxter Credit Union) has signed a services agreement with the privately-owned Texas-based software company Alkami Technology to transform its digital banking experience for its more than 200,000 members.

The new digital banking experience will provide BCU’s members with an updated user interface that is consistent across all channels, devices and functional offerings, delivering a superior digital experience and increasing the value of the digital channel to the user and the financial institution. Alkami Technology’s ORB platform will integrate with BCU’s core banking system to create enhancements that include: P2P payments, Locator Search, quick PIN and fingerprint login, personal financial management tools, card controls, and integrated Mobile Bill Pay.

“BCU aims to create a compelling platform that will strengthen its brand for remote members to encourage heightened engagement, provide improved security, and transition more routine transactions to lower cost self-service channels,” said Scott Schmidt, director of Digital Services at BCU.

Schmidt continued, “We recognized a need to invest in a modern banking platform to meet growing member demand for a more robust digital experience, tailored to our members’ needs and expectations. Alkami’s ORB best aligned with our member experience and technology strategies, and there is a great deal of opportunity to integrate with other channels.”

“More than 60 percent of today’s banking transactions occur within digital channels, and research suggests that more than 90 percent will take place online by 2020,” said Stephen Bohanon, founder, chief strategy and sales officer of Alkami Technology. “Savvy financial institutions now recognize that delivering the ultimate digital experience is a driver for overall growth. BCU is certainly ahead of the pack in recognizing the future of digital, and we look forward to partnering with them to accomplish their goals.”

“We’re ambitious about the future of BCU’s digital banking and expect to do great things with Alkami’s ORB,” Schmidt concluded.

The new mobile banking experience is targeted to be available to members starting in July 2016. A newly redesigned online banking platform for desktop will follow in early 2017.

In 2014 the newly redesigned BCU.org was awarded a Sitecore Experience Award in the Financial Services category.
