In response to what our members request through our surveys and call center, we continuously work on improving the way we do business. Above all else, superior service continues to be our primary focus.

We have many technology, communication and convenience initiatives underway to meet your individual financial needs, and we’ll continue making investments in their development.

Here’s the latest update on what we’ve been working on in 2011-2012:

  • Can I make a Credit Card or Mortgage payment directly within Online Banking without going through Online Bill Pay?
  • Are there any plans to expand your ATM network or refund ATM fees?
  • If I am no longer with my place of employment, can I keep my membership?
  • If funds cover my courtesy payment the same day, why did I get a courtesy payment fee?

  • Feedback: Can I make a Credit Card or Mortgage payment directly within Online Banking without going through Online Bill Pay?

    Yes. You can make a payment directly to your Mortgage or Credit Card account simply by logging into Online Banking and clicking on the Mortgage or Credit Card account. Once there, you will see a link on the page titled “Make a payment.” Selecting this link will allow you to make direct payments to your account without using Online Bill Pay. In addition, members can use this service to make additional principal payments whenever they choose.

    Feedback: Are there any plans to expand your ATM network or refund ATM fees?

    We currently belong to several ATM networks that provide surcharge-free access to tens of thousands of ATMs. If you have a POWERCHECKING account, you have unlimited ATM access, without being charged a fee by BCU. We are reviewing additional opportunities in the future related to ATM surcharge-fee reimbursements.

    Feedback: If I am no longer with my place of employment, can I keep my membership?/span>

    Yes. As we say here: “Once a member, always a member!” We encourage you to join the Credit Union and become a member while you’re an employee of one of our Select Employer Groups (SEG), and continue your membership with the Credit Union even if you happen to leave your SEG. If you don’t join while you are employed, or discontinue your membership after leaving your SEG, you may no longer be eligible.     Feedback: If funds cover my courtesy payment the same day, why did I get a courtesy payment fee?

    Since fees are imposed when the service is utilized, (in this case, the Courtesy Payment was utilized to cover the overdraft when the account was drawn negative) the fee was imposed at the time the service was provided.

    We encourage members to regularly review account balances through Online or Mobile Banking to determine the amount available before making a purchase or withdrawing funds from the account. That way, members can avoid drawing their accounts negative and avoid Courtesy Payment fees associated with the service.

    Feedback: Can you explain your Visa® Card reward program?

    The Credit Union offers a variety of rewards options, based on your purchase habits and rewards preference. Whether you choose travel, merchandise, or cash back, you’ll find a rewards option to meet your needs.

    Earn CURewards® Points with the Visa ATM/Debit card and the Visa Platinum with CURewards credit card

    With CURewards, you earn points for every purchase you make with your Credit Union ATM/Debit card and Visa Platinum with CURewards credit card. You can redeem those points for a variety of travel and merchandise rewards. With your Credit Card, you’ll earn 1 point for every $1 in purchases and with your ATM/Debit card, you’ll earn 1 point for every $2 in purchases. CURewards Points never expire and because you can combine your points from both debit and credit card purchases, your rewards add up quickly!

    Special Credit Card Bonus: You’ll receive 3,000 bonus CURewards Points when you activate your new Visa Platinum w/CURewards card, plus you’ll earn triple points for the first 90 days.

    Enhanced CURewards Points with the Visa Signature® card.

    Our Visa Signature credit card features enhanced rewards, and is designed for cardmembers with a higher level of spend. Points are earned as follows:

  • 10,000 bonus CURewards points awarded upon account activation
  • Earn triple points in the first 90 days
  • After 90 days, earn 2 points for every $1 in purchases on gas, groceries and restaurants, and 1 point for every $1 on all other purchases
  • 10,000 bonus CURewards points awarded after $50,000 in annual purchases
  • Triple points earned on hotel and airline after $50,000 in annual purchases.
  • Cash Back Rewards with the Visa Platinum with Cash Back credit card.

    With the Visa Platinum with Cash Back credit card, you earn 2% cash back on gas, groceries and restaurants, and 1% cash back on all other purchases. Your cash back award is automatically posted to your credit union savings account each quarter, so you have the flexibility to use it any way you choose.

    Feedback: How do you determine interest rates? The interest rates are confusing – explain them more.

    BCU members have diverse needs, which BCU addresses with a broad array of product and rate offerings.

    Loan and deposit rates are set monthly by the Credit Union Pricing Committee. In order to determine recommended loan and deposit rates, the Pricing Committee considers the Credit Union’s cash flow position, member demand, and competitor rates.

    If you have a specific area that is causing confusion, we will be happy to address it.
