How long does it take to get a debit card for my new account?
If you opened a checking or savings account and did not specifically opt out of a card, one has been ordered for you. It will take approximately 7-10 business days to arrive. If you live or work near one of our Credit Union Service Centers, you may be able to take advantage of our instant issue technology.

What is Shared Branching? And what can I do at a Shared Branch?
Through Shared Branching, credit unions across the country share branch locations and support each other’s members. If you’re a member of BCU, Shared Branching gives you access to thousands of credit union branches across the country. At Shared Branches, you can conduct the following transactions:
- Funds transfers
- Check cashing
- Loan payments
- Balance inquiries
- Copy of statement receipt
- Money Order and Travelers Checks purchase.1

Does the Credit Union charge ATM fees?
BCU does not charge any ATM fees in the United States or Puerto Rico. You may, however, be charged a fee by another institution when you use their ATM. But don’t worry—we help you with those, too. With PowerPlus™ Checking, you'll get up to $10 per month in cash reimbursement of non-BCU ATM fees.2
What’s the difference between “Member Number” and “Account Number?”
Your Member Number is assigned to your membership as a whole and can be found in your confirmation communication from the Credit Union. Your Account (MICR) Number is a 14-digit number specific to the account you have (i.e. Checking) and can be found within Online Banking.
What’s the difference between an account “Code Word” and “Password?”
A Code Word is used to provide verbal verification of your identity. We will ask you for this when you call us for assistance with your accounts. Your Password refers to the Online Banking password you established when you signed in to the website for the first time.1We cannot guarantee that all Shared Branches offer all transaction types. Contact a branch before visiting to ensure they offer the services you need.
