New BCU Board Members Bring Strong, Diverse Credentials

BCU announced the two newest members of its board of directors will begin their volunteer service to the Credit Union membership in 2017. Bob Hombach and David Strauss were elected at BCU’s annual meeting on February 28.

Robert (Bob) Hombach has 27 years of financial and operational leadership experience in the healthcare sector; most recently serving as Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer & Chief Operations Officer for Baxalta. Previously, Hombach served as Corporate Vice President and CFO for Baxter International where he led the process to spin-off its biopharma business (Baxalta), drove corporate-wide process improvement efforts, and managed the $200M Baxter Ventures fund. Bob has served as a Board Member of Naurex, Inc., and the Loyola University Health System. Bob earned his BS in Finance from the University of Colorado, and his MBA from Northwestern University. Bob was recognized as an Elijah Watt Sells award winner on the November 1990 CPA exam, and has earned IR Magazine Top 100 US CFO honors (ranked #7 in both 2013 & 2014) as voted on by institutional investors.

As Senior Vice President of UnitedHealth Group’s Total Rewards function, David Strauss is responsible for directing the design, implementation, communication and administration of the company’s overall compensation and benefits programs. Prior to joining UnitedHealth Group, David was the Head of Compensation for Genentech, responsible for leading compensation programs and services for the North America Pharmaceutical business. Previously, he held leadership roles with Fidelity Investments, Dell, MasterCard and Merrill Lynch. David earned his Bachelor’s degree from Duke University and an MBA from Columbia University with concentrations in Accounting and Finance. He also holds a JD and an LLM in Taxation both from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis.
