BCU Named Top 100 Workplace for Sixth Year by Chicago Tribune

November 2, 2018

BCU is proud to announce that it has been recognized as one of the Chicago Tribune’s Top 100 Workplaces 2018.

The Top 100 Workplaces recognizes the most dynamic and innovative organizations to work for in the Chicago area, as determined by its employees. The companies are evaluated through an employee survey powered by Energage, which measures the key qualities and best practices that make the companies engaging.

Top Workplaces is more than just recognition,” said Doug Claffey, CEO of Energage. “Our research shows organizations that earn the award attract better talent, experience lower turnover, and are better equipped to deliver bottom-line results. Their leaders prioritize and carefully craft a healthy workplace culture that supports employee engagement.”

With over 600 employees, BCU has consistently exemplified the dynamic assets of a top workplace. From a passionate internal culture, strong senior leadership, competitive compensation and benefits, employee development and commitment to workplace flexibility, BCU continues to support its employees with a unified vision. As an organization, BCU is also focused on giving back to the community through both financial support, as well as through volunteer efforts for local and national charitable organizations.

“At BCU, our employees are the reason for our success. They help create our culture and workplace environment. Their outstanding commitment to BCU reflects our commitment to provide employees with personal development opportunities and a healthy work-life balance,” Mike Valentine, President and CEO said. “Nothing means more to me than the people and purpose of our organization. To our employees, board of directors and partner companies, I offer my deepest gratitude.”

This is the sixth year that BCU has been recognized as a Chicago Tribune Top 100 Workplace. First selected in 2012, the company has grown 39% over the last six years. 2018 marks another big milestone for the Credit Union, unveiling a refreshed and refined new brand identity earlier this year.

“Becoming a Top Workplace isn’t something organizations can buy,” Claffey said. “It’s an achievement organizations have worked for and a distinction that gives them a competitive advantage. It’s a big deal.”
