Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is BCU and how is it related to ADA Credit Union?
The ADA Credit Union is a division of BCU, a nationwide parent Credit Union that is nationally recognized as an exceptional institution with solid annual financial performance and strong capital. This relationship brings you an expansive array of products and services, and nationwide access to your accounts. The names (ADA Credit Union and BCU) are interchangeable and refer to the same business entity. Two different names, but one collective financial cooperative behind the scenes working to empower you to achieve your financial goals.
-
What makes ADA Credit Union different than my bank?
Unlike a bank, the ADA Credit Union is a not-for-profit organization. Members of the Credit Union are “owners,” not customers, and you’ll typically enjoy better savings and loan rates, and few, if any fees. In collaboration with ADA, the Credit Union takes pride in understanding your needs and challenges, offering tailored solutions designed specifically for you and your family.
-
Who can join the ADA Credit Union?
All ADA member dentists and their dental team(s), employees of the ADA and ADA affiliates, and their family members are eligible to join the Credit Union, regardless of your financial standing or credit history. And once you’re a member of the Credit Union, you’re a member for life. Immediate family is defined by immediate or extended qualifying family of an existing ADA Credit Union member related by blood, marriage, fostering or adoption. Eligible family members include spouses, parents, children, siblings, domestic partners, grandchildren, grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
-
Is the Credit Union owned by the American Dental Association?
The Credit Union is not owned by the American Dental Association, but by the credit union members. Therefore, when you sign up, YOU become an owner! In collaboration with BCU, the ADA is offering this benefit of membership at no cost to you. While both organizations share a common interest in improving your financial well-being, the ADA Credit Union is a separate entity. The American Dental Association has no access to your account information. Your information is confidential.

In collaboration with BCU, ADA is proud to offer this benefit at no cost to you.
